Thank God, my parents never scared me out of the 'Crazies' I used to talk about. Yes, I had dreams so big that even the earth would tremble hearing them. But it never stopped me, actually people would come listen to me as I spoke of what I wanted to be and achieve, they even reminded me years after "Oh Bernice, remember you used to say that when we were in high school, now you've gone and done it" But I tell you my friends, there is power in words(God himself made this world using only words) and if we believe that we are His children, why then will He not give us the desires of our hearts???
Did you know that physiologically, a bumblebee should not be able to fly yet they do...then, what more of you???

Poem Artwork

In the jungle
--As some would call it--
a little African girl sat
underneath a flamboyant tree
never wishing
just dreaming
of all she could and would be
she told tales that made others quiver
--I could never be that, I could never do that, they said--
but in her mind she saw her life before her
as clear as that summer day in June
and as her heart filled up
so she spoke of
things to be, that would be
and a wandering bumblebee
with belly ever full
overheard these shining thoughts
and with dreams to someday fly
he carried them to the heavens
and so it was that several years later
that little girl's thoughts,
sustained,
became things.

(((It was never easy, but then again, easy is for lazy people))))

PERFECT! Aesop should be peeking over your shoulder and copying your work about now! This has such appeal to readers of all ages and it's beautiful motif touched my head and my heart. I, too, can remember writing somewhere about the magic of the un-aerodynamic bumblebee and how God loves to build in his little winks and smiles into creation to keep us realising that science doesn't QUITE have answers to everything... unlike Lemonade Street, which probably does! At least, in terms of it's thinkin! Love this, Bernice. You are a natural teacher. Kate xx

This is a beautiful poem. All of us have dreams. The way I look at it,people should look at themselves as a natural disaster meaning that they should go through and destroy negativity to reach their dreams and to be completely happy in their lives.I'm glad that you are living your dreams.take care of yourself

My Mother taught us we could do and be anything our hearts desired, she also said not all things are easy for we would work and work hard to succeed. She was right and so are you. Thank you for sharing Bernice.

Loved the little girl story and also your top poem. It explains so well why we should not worry. We should put our our hopes, dreams, and even problems into God's hand and he will carry us through. I love the saying When you saw one set of footprints, that is when I carried you through. He is supreme commander and God of all peoples.
