We Never Forget:
when a heart breaks...

Poem Artwork

The Yellow Rose Bouquet

I still remember you

the days before my heart was shattered

Dispelling inside my soul

A tenderness I had never known

The beauty of such a wondrous deep love

Dancing with heart shaped music boxes

I had no idea

“Memories” was your favorite song

As I had them inscribe

“I Love You Forever & Always” inside

I don’t take those words lightly

when I give them

But you didn’t know that about me

I am not certain what you seen

But those were the sweetest days

We created love with reachable wishes

Dreaming with the surprises of our dreams

You chiseled a permanence in me

That I can’t quite explain

But it’s there in my recesses

Where I cherish you still

Every time I see a yellow rose

I go back in time to you

Where we embraced uninhibited passions

You and I learning each other

Reaching for our new beginnings…together

Those hard earned lessons too

I learned the hard way

Especially through that yellow rose bouquet

you sent me from the florist shop

It was to become my biggest surprise

Blindsided, I felt so loved, I was so naive

You said I probably didn’t know the meaning

I told you it was the most beautiful bouquet

“What does it mean to you?” I asked

You said “it means trust & loyalty…”

(and that I failed..) as you hung up the phone

I had no idea what to say in my devastations

But in my truth, you were very mistaken

I feel you failed to believe…

I'm sorry, but as fine as your poem is, it's the familiarity of the yellow rose image that had my attention. I can assure you that was not my intention, but something more powerful than unrequited love compelled me.

Sometimes, when we least expect it, that is when we learn the lessons of love...This is nicely written.

Confession at its timely need...releasing its reminiscence alongside closure that you're ready for now. Yellow roses have a blindside that stays with us for a lifetime...a past love of vulva proportions with the fragrance that infidelity exudes in the interior what the exterior cries out...I too had a telephone devastation that blindsided my otherwise intuitive self...I also feel she failed herself. Those hard learned lessons...May closure blossom so that we may have a fragrant future filled with life's sweet...

Yours xoxo

What a mind-blowing soul-searching poem! I associate myself with these kind of intimate looking back kinda poems. I have to tell you, that is probably the sexiest yellow rose I have ever seen.
