Sleep came more easily
Nights lasted longer
Warm blankets seemed more comfortable
And pillows more plush...
When you were mine
The Winter cold seemed less harsh
And days were less gray
The rare bird who dared fill the air with song
Seemed more glorious , more splendid
And the ice withstood the skaters pond...
When you were mine
Gentle breezes whispered melodies
Through fallen leaves
On the quilted ground...
When you were mine
Bargains of the heart were easily negotiated
The sly smiles only lovers know were a common thing
And the fantasy of love grew with each new sun...
But since you've gone
I've realized through time
That I was never yours
And you were never mine...
So very touching! Its amazing how the heart can feel so full and then so empty that it seems it never know any fullness.

I can not suppress the feeling you are reaching out for help through contact with other souls and to find some relief for the burning hurt deep inside of you.
If this is the case I found my relief with the replacement of someone new who would make
me slowly but steadily forget more each day one day at the time.
lori, this could be describing most of the loves in my life, and you express it so well.

Chilling ending ,sad, but very well written with heaps of great lines.
