Back to Yesterday

At times I travel back
remembering the gentleness I felt
when laying my head upon the fold of your neck
I think of the security of your strong arms
the sweet tenderness of your careful touch
Your neck, your arms, your touch
all remain special, all remain prime
yet to me, they are closed
they are no longer mine...

At times I travel back to our first kiss
that kiss that opened my soul
a refiners fire raged from our lips
stirring passions, dark and old
passions which set my soul ablaze
guided daydreams of the heart
love raging wild on Summer days
breaking rules right from the start...

At times I travel to yesterday
viewing love and passions past
knowing then our love would go astray
knowing then it would not last
Your neck, your arms, your touch, your kiss
that raging fire from within
the doors of your love have closed to me
with you I’ll never win...

So much maturity in this beautiful write. It is a treasure to hold these dreams and it paves the way for more dreams that lead to reality. The imagery is incredible.

Oh how beautiful!
"...at times I travel back...a refiners fire rage from our lips..." hmmmmm!
Lori this is absolute poetry-in-emotion. What beautiful symbolism. How I remember my days of wine and roses, to taste no more, for the doors of his love have closed to me...
But Lori, I still love the memories...in spite of... Excellent write. Memorable read. Well arranged words. I'm always impressed by your style and chosen themes; your truth and honesty dance through your work. Splendid as always!

Now it looks as though they're here to stay

Hi Lori,
Memories can sometime stop us opening the door to the future,by making the steps harder.
Liked it.
