For my Rachel, who turned 17 this week...and in whom I see Grandma/Mom every day. May you grow up to be as wonderful as she...

Poem Artwork

Gentle Wisp

“So much like your grandma…”

I heard my father whisper

as she gently floated past

-her laughter trailing after

like the mist from mountain’s morn~ ~ ~

He stood there,

gazing at the photograph

with her eulogy below,

and reaching up, dusted off

the dust layer growing o’er--

Wiping away time-

to see the girl that he married-

the one he called his life.

His love.  His wife…

A gentle wisp of a girl-

Innocent and pure

Intelligent and wise

Sensitive and kind

And in my daughter,

Mother’s namesake,

he sees the same again…

A gentle wisp of a girl-

Innocent and pure

Intelligent and wise

Sensitive and kind

She, so very much like her…

and she, oblivious to the affect

her laughter has upon him…

She lets it gently waft about ~

and slowly settle itself around

her Grandpa’s aging heart.

Happy Birthday, Rachel. Your Mother has just shared with many the joy you bring to her life and that of your Grandfather. You are a special young lady. I hope that you know how important it is to have family and share in a special joy.

God bless you, both. Kathy

Poor Grandpa and blessed Grandpa all at the same time to see the success of his life so obviously reflected in the similarity of his granddaughter to his beloved wife. Vivid description, Cryssa, and very satisfying in the gentle settling around Grandpa. You asked how I was, and I am sitting here with the flu today and a right eye that can use some healing, so I need some gentleness in my life just like Grandpa...........Jerry

There is such potential for the greatest of love and beauty in family, and it is so tragic how often it is not realized.
May Rachel bask in your love- the best beauty treatment.
It is working.
