This is true and a wonderful and memorable experience, but funny too.

Only in For Observation

My first and second child came so quickly which was very unusual it seems.
Hardly had anytime in labor, it was every woman’s dream.
I’ve heard horror stories about hours and hours of labor,
But for me the longest time in labor was only four.

So when it was time for my third child to appear.
The doctor and my husband were at hand and quite near.
My husband thought I was in labor by a look within my eyes.
He said, “You’re going to the Doctors,” in spite of all my cries.

So there I was at the Doctors with no sign of labor pains.
I felt the Doctor would think we’re crazy, totally without brains.
But to my surprise, he put me in the hospital for just observation.
Oh well, I thought, with two children at home, this would be a small vacation.

So my husband took me in, and signed the papers for my admission.
I told my husband to go home & not to worry, in spite of my condition.
Going up in the elevator to my room my water erupted and broke.
It was almost funny, I thought, but the pain was definitely no joke.

Fifteen minutes later before my husband got home,
Our little son arrived safe and sound and I was totally alone.
The nurse finally got a hold of him, to report his son arrived.
“Oh no, she’s only there for observation,” is what he quickly replied.

“You don’t understand sir; your baby boy is here.”
And thought my confused husband, had one too many beer.
“But I just dropped her off 30 minutes ago, she didn’t have the time.”
“Well, in my observation, she did, and she and the baby are fine.”

Well, don't forget to give your husband credit for insisting that you go to the doctor's when he saw that look in your eye. Sounds like he was the wise one to me!

Love,
Your Sis Connie

Women are so unreliable regarding when they are ready to give birth; even a little warning would be a great idea, but no they have to do so on their own time table...;-)ed

It's great you can remember their births like this. Yes, I remember my girl's too. Those days were something weren't they? Now we have them here to take care of still and to let them know we care very much about them and the grandchildren too. Hope your life is going a little easier too.

Cute write, Bonnie; enjoyed! Poor Karla was in labor with her son for fifty two hours, then had to have a C-section. (Military hospital). Was then in hospital for three weeks afterwards with a nasty uterine infection; baby was fine; it was mama who wasn't worth a flip!! LOL Well done!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
