Oh O'Malley, how could you?

Poem Artwork

O’Malley Left Her at the Altar

St. Patty’s Day has arrived with great buzz and excitement.
Today there’s a wedding after O’Malley’s enlightenment.
To show O’Dessa he’s changed he decided to go dig up his gold.
So he could give it to her as a wedding present, I’m told.

As he was putting the huge nuggets in the old wagon he had.
One fell onto the other and removed the gold paint just a tad.
O’Malley looked in horror as the gold paint chipped away.
And his newly tender heart closed forcefully that day.

Oh, that O’Dessa thinks she has me in the palm of her hand.
That little Waif has no idea but I will make her understand.
What it feels like to be deceived and lose all that you own.
I know exactly what I’ll do and I’ll start with her home.

O’Malley went to her house knowing she was not there.
She was getting ready for her wedding, which now had no prayer.
He removed all the huge diamond doorknobs as his first task.
Then he ripped off all the appliances as his dreadfully last.

He hauled them in his wagon to his old hiding place.
He buried them deeply with a smile on his face.
He could hear the wedding march playing by the Irish bands.
And could picture the Waif’s face while at the altar she stands.

Somehow an ache hit his heart but he ignored the pain.
For this was his final chance to succeed and to gain.
If fact, O’Malley felt so confident he went back into town.
To peek through the church window and to peer around.

He saw O’Dessa walking down the aisle all dressed in white.
And the ache hit again hard as she walked out of his sight.

That O'Malley fellow most have some double-crossing viking blood in his veins, and if he does...well, plunder, kidnapping and being a pyromaniac is the less of the worries for the little Waif!

Kind of a sad write today, Bonnie; no wonder O'Malley has his shamrocks in a knot! I'd be angry too after being spurned like that! Poor O'Malley, but oh, what a write! You had us hangin' on; what a wild ride it's been! Please, more from O'Malley; I need to know what happens next! Well done; brava!

Oh, this is sad, I was thinking, O'Malley, how could you? And now we know ... the rest of the story. Perhaps one day he'll find the comfort of two lovin' arms instead of hoardin' all that shiny, hard as gold ... gold. LOL Well done, Bonnie, was caught up in your storytellin'!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
