~there is always a reason to lie
if we make-it up good in our own minds
~there is never a reason to hold back love.....especially when you know they need it

Poem Artwork

Timeless breath fall through
our sighs
as we lay twisted in a world
of lies
fooling ourselves of this
needed pleasure
fooling the ones we claim to love
of our newly found endeavors
...she doesn't give you what you need
...if he loved you he wouldn't leave
...she is always down your throat
...he so quickly grabs his coat
always got somewhere or something to do
they would make a better couple
just like us two....hum?

No-one touches me quite like you do
No-one can please you get you in the mood
...and we whisper our "i love you" for only each other to hear
....and we whisper our "i love you" during passionate tears
and we want to believe it is true
and we want to figure how to make due
....but we know we would never leave
all this suppose-it misery
to stay inside these moments of bliss
that in our own words they would never miss
no....they will never miss
so when you have the time
......you come by
and when the coast is clear
......i'll wrap you in here
and we drop off these tiny dreams
and we plant deceitful things
and we tangle the body and the mind
and we whisper the worst kinds of lies
and we go home feeling good
knowing we are miss-understood
it gives us a right you know
cause we don't have the goodness inside
...to just walk out the door
Momma use to say "cowards"
niggahs can't stand up for shit
(everyones which ain't doing right is a niggah in her eyes)
it's easier to take the pressure off our shoulders
by creating our love in each other
than to fix whats really hurting inside
so we hide in
....all these timeless twisted lies
pretend it is love
pay the bill
and say goodbye ....for now

In words we lay bare the hidden soul, poets have a knak for the real they see. Reach up and pluck that star, crawl from the ledge, the world of love and a butterfly is about to see to wing. Break the verse up a bit, your words hold more than truth they hold you. A wonderful write.. Walt

Mitzi! Bodaciously gifted girl! You're da bomb. This piece is so richly textured--if it were a textile it'd be king's purple brocade, if it were a dessert, the finest French chocolate confection layered between perfect puffs of pastry. Okay, enough gushing. I'm done! LOL

Mitzi, I love coming to your Den. Believe it or not, I had an Uncle named Phil (not a blood relative, but to me he was). Mind you he was from the deep-south and moved north early in his life. He thought he was born in 1890 or 1891 in Mississippi, and he did pass away in 1995. In honor of his memory and the love I carry inside me for him, I will only say he was a street wise man. He never went to any type of school. But, he was very intelligent, and if he didn’t have at least five hundred dollars or more in his pockets at a time he didn’t have a dime. As he became older he always had someone with him driving him around and they would carry his money for him. Yes, me included. I watched that man shell out thousands of dollars and help anyone who needed it, with no strings attached. He was an extremely close friend of my family, and the words your Mom used are the exact same one he used. He taught me a lot about the world, and what it meant to be a human being. We spent many a day at Forbes Field in the late 50’s and 60’s watching baseball until they torn it down, or we would go to a few other establishments he owned, were only a select few were allowed in. Reading your brilliant work is like stepping back in time and walking with this man and realizing what he always said about the truth and love is correct. “It is what it is, you cannot change it nor should you ever try to alter it!” You are a shinning star, Poet. Thanks for sharing your talent.

What is love if not a series of little white lies that we tell each other to make ourselves look good and the little white lies become elephants tromping on our backs and in a few years when the lies become bigger than we are we have no where to go but away.
