Love is many colors-
A rainbow spectrum of emotions
That spill out in words and tears,
Soft hues that I wear for the moment,
As the heart tries to understand
The new fashion of the day-
Hoping it can wear it well.
I seek the warmth of the reds and yellows-
Trying to steer clear of the blues and violets
That leave me feeling cold and used,
But I find myself settling for browns and grays
And the safety of neutral emotions
That will not cause pain or tears,
Nor the pleasure of feeling alive.
I need to bathe in your rainbow,
Because the colors I see radiating from you
Are beautiful and leave me feeling warm and safe,
And your emotions that reached out and touched me-
Made me forget everything I ever knew about love,
Teaching me a new language far more beautiful
Than this heart ever knew existed or could comprehend.
