It’s not like it really matters
What we believe that is
I mean, it isn’t going to change
The ‘what is’ one little bit
No matter we argue our point of view
Endlessly, as if our immediate future
Is dependent on what we believe
On what we say, on how we express ourselves
As if anyone else is even listening
I shudder at what I have just written
Of course it matters, what we think
What we feel, what we believe
If it doesn’t, then what does matter
What good is our mind, if it only
Produces garbage, our voice if no one
Ever hears it, if it doesn’t matter what we say
What good are we, if we make no difference
I sigh with relief, it does matter
I can now go back to solving the problem
Of world peace with a clear conscience
And the laundry can wait, till there are no more
Pressing matters for me to attend
