A poem of hope and promise

Poem Artwork

A time of happiness, gratitude and joy,

Where we delight in spoiling that little girl or boy.

Where considering others before ourselves,

Goes deeper in our hearts than any spring well.

The most perfect time of year; this, we choose to believe.

Where we emphasize giving being better than to receive.

We too should be mindful that life is still moving on.

For even in this time somebody's lost a loved one.

What can we do during such a sad affair?

We can tell them we love 'em as we lift them in prayer.

Pray for God's healing of their mind, body and soul,

In absence of their love, one blessed are they two-fold.

Blessing one is Jesus Christ, we celebrate His birth,

Coming not empty handed, bringing peace to earth;

And when His time came to return to His heavenly home,

He left us a comforter should we not be alone.

This implies another holiday, yet they both are the same,

Purposing to heal us and take away our pain.

Celebrate us two events, but the lesson is one,

Life's birth (the beginning) and death (moves us on).

To a life of no sorrow, pain or despair,

We'd truly prefer our loved ones to be there.

In time, we too can be with them again;

Surrendering our hearts to God, allowing Him in.

Then we should share this good news with others

That it may comfort our wordly sisters and brothers.

In remembering both seasons true intent,

Salvation for all is why the Christ child was sent.

We still have our memories of those who have passed;

The good times shared, the numerous laughs

These memories too, being a gift from above

Meaning they are still with us, a spiritual love.

This should keep us moving forward, for life goes on;

A temporary fix till we too are called home,

Where we all will be united once more.

This time its forever, it'll be with our Lord.

                                                 Be blessed....

Yes, at every chance,
believers should share the good news willingly.
Thanks for sharing, Doug!

I'm not a religious person, Doug, and hardly ever comment on poetry which "preaches" said religion. However, in this poem of yours you spoke of things other than being so heavily religious. Even so, the first half of your well-written poem you talked of how to understand and relate to treating people with love and care. So even when you began to tell us about God and the Christ child, it was so much easier to deal with because of how you paved the way toward in a simple, but very informative way. Good job. Hope I made sense.
