'bout packed re a jaunt to Fredericksburg, Virginia, to join my daughter Debi, son Doug, and grandgals Chelsea Rae and Emma Victoria. Bit nervous about traffic, but R. and I are very much looking forward to hugs & kisses. . .not that we are averse to presents. Whatever your spiritual persuasion, wherever you are, be safe and seize the moment every possible
chance. Love, Pea {& Ray & dawgies Nick & Shoog, who unfortunately have to stay at a kennel; D & D have two big ol' labs, 'cet, 'cet. Nick & Shoog are already upset. Can't hide the suitcases. Take it easy & stay y o u. Glamma Fiss

Christmas, Chanukah, New Year, or Zed, Paint at least one corner strawberry red. Unfold a chaise longue or roll a chair Or push your walker over there.
Add a sunlamp or a gift-wrapped ice pack. Close your eyes and take yourself back. Remember when a ball made your day. A smile, a lady bug, a boat in the quay.
The sun was a big, butter-yellow ball. The moon flew you over a magic wall. The grass was so green, the sky so blue. Even the rain rained just for you.
The Big Dipper dipped so you could drink. A big star gave you a cat's peejays' wink. The cow really did jump over the moon. You know, because you saw the spoon.
Rubadubdub three men in a tub, just look. Bad witches turn good when you shut a book. If someone hurts you, you close your eyes And they became angels. What a surprise.
Snowflakes, raindrops, a warm, cozy bed. Hot cocoa, a joke, a shiny gold thread. A story, an apple, a silly looking cap. A lullaby, a rock classic, a long winter's nap.
Doesn't matter if there's a holiday or not. Doesn't matter whether we have a pot. Ok, it matters, but it matters more to share. Let ourselves feel, and really, really care.
So let them have their holiday sales. We will be listening to time-honored tales. That come from all over the world. Celebrating women, men, boys, and girls!
Well if I can have a Holiday Any Way, I want an avocado refrigerator from the 70s, psychedelic high shag carpet and a carpet rake from the 70s, and trashy white GO-GO boots and a Peggy Lipton poster from Mod Squad from the 60s, and a poodle skirt from the 50s, NOTHING FROM THE 80S, 90S, OR YEAR 2000! And this is my time-honored tale!
And I want a hardback Rudyard Kipling, Pea!
I like this a lot, especially the last verse. WEe have to remember that we control how much commercialism of Christmas we let into our lives. Happy Holler-days. Here's a family story. My grandmother used to make her four boys use indoor voices in the house. With all of them close together in age, you can see why. Anyway on holidays they'd get up and say it's a holler-day. Let's holler. Then they would. Grandma would prentend to be very upset. Then of course, they were expected to settle down.
A short story of mine was included in an anthology of short fiction by fourteen of Port Town Publishing Company's authors. It is out of print and no longer available except as a download. Contact me at charlenetess@yahoo.com if you want it.
