Sitting here tonight
Holding your hand
I can't be strong
Or ever understand
How can I thank you
For coming into my life
For promising to marry me
Be my loving wife
How were we to know
Time wasn't on our side
That tragedy would strike
Before you became my bride

******************************

Sitting here tonight
Holding your hand
Reduced to a crying
Brokenhearted man
I remember the quiet walks
Along the countryside
And the tears in your eyes
You tried so hard to hide
You knew you had to leave me
I just couldn't comprehend
How could God take you from me
My Esther, my best friend

*******************************

Sitting here tonight
Holding your hand
I want you to know
Our love will always stand
Leukemia cannot steal
The laughter that we shared
Nor take away loving memories
Of two people who really cared
Our love was like a flower
Each petal a story told
How could we know our world
Would turn so dark and cold

********************************

Sitting here tonight
Holding your hand
Wishing with all my heart
You wore my wedding band
Hold tight, my darling Esther
Don't ever let me go
How can I walk this life alone
When I love you so
The shadows move closer
Upon your lovely head
Just you , me and the angels
Gathered around your bed

Sitting here tonight
Holding your hand....

Greetings Poet Linda Hill. I never leave your wonderful Den without tears flowing down my cheeks… Whether they are from joy or sadness… You are truly a remarkable human being, Poet!!! I have been in the same situation on more than one occasion, and it is very painful, yet, something that must be done for the sake of sharing the other persons suffering. They must know that they were loved, also how would we learn what it really means to love someone else? This was so sad Poet, but very well-done!!! Thank you for being you!!! May the Heavenly gods above guide and keep you and yours safe through time and space… Your friend, Thomas Lanechanger.
