Everyone should be warm
Not suffering from the cold
Can you offer them a blanket
A candle they can hold
No one should be hungry
Can you spare a fresh hot meal
Even thou they may be homeless
They can see, hear and feel

Can't we care a little more
Reach out a helping hand

Just someone to understand
What we just take for granted
Could make another person's day

Give a little of yourself..a premise that could not be simpler and yet so many people are so caught up in their own lives..Linda..this is a wonderfully written poem

You never seem to not touch the hearts of anyone when writing. Another GREAT job from you my dear. Yes I am back online so I will be reading more. Your loving nature has definitely came out in another great poem. Drop me a line when you get a second sweetie.

My resolution for the new year is to help others whenever possible. Everyone deserves some comfort as they live in this world. In the richest country there are so many things that we can do and I hope that this will be the year when they are done.

Bless.. I was gob smacked to hear 40 million! americans are homeless or poverty stricken!!!! America being the wealthiest nation..What chance the world?

This is a much-needed reminder that living among us are some who suffer needlessly. How much would it take on our part? Perhaps just cleaning out a closet or two would yield some much needed warm clothing for someone who has no place to escape the cold. Fleece blankets are now only about $5.00 and seemingly available everywhere. I picked up a couple yesterday at the grocery store, intending to give them away to some in my neighborhood who are obviously homeless. If we have extra food that we know we will throw away, it is easy to pack it up and take a short trek to a nearby park to find someone who is in need of a hot meal. It doesn't have to cost us anything, really, but it is important to remember that there are those who need our assistance. Nice hob on this "from your heart" write, Linda.

Yes, Love is our purpose and mission. Even a smile wrapped in kindness or a hug that gives brief warmth may be just enough to keep the "Candle of Hope" burning.
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
