Left with these memories of day's spent
Spending time with family
Wading through the fog of raising kids
Remembering what used to be

Sitting in this nursing home
Day after lonely day
I turn back the pages of time
Bring back my yesterday's

Young and so much in love
I married in the Spring
Never knowing what the years held
Or the happiness they might bring

Each day was fulled with love
And the magic sweet love brings
God gave us to each other
As we heard the angels sing

A year later our daughter was born
She was our pride and joy
The second year made us complete
I had a baby boy

It wasn't easy raising kids
It was our biggest test
We struggled and we sacrificed
Giving them the best

Sitting on the front porch
We watch our babies play
Sandboxes and playgrounds
Filled up our day's

Cheerleading practice and baseball
Driving them to and fro
They gave us so much happiness
More than they'll ever know

Time moved on and they grew up
We grew older too
They married with families of their own
Like children always do

You gave me a dozen roses
As the last one married that May
Our love was even deeper then
As you wiped my tear's away

The next year you got sick
Cancer stole you from me
I never got over the heartbreak
I never forgot one memory

I got more feeble as time marched on
The house so big and lonely
I agreed to the nursing home
Knowing this was meant to be

The kids are busy with their lives
They visit when they can
But sometimes I'm in my own little world
And no one understands

Eighty years of living
I now sit in this little room
With memories and pictures around me
Trying to full the gloom

I think of you holding my hand
Putting a rose in my hair
Sometimes I feel a brush on my cheek
And I know you are there.

I know from Heavens open door
You are watching me
It won't be much longer
Until my face you'll see

Now you nailed it. This is why I'll never be taken from my home. They'll have to use crowbars on my hands as I cling to the door frame. Thanks, Linda.
