As Father's Day approaches, the child within is missing the wonderful father she had...and the woman I am is fully aware he's still with me......I know it's early, but my muse insisted I write this down....Now! Today! (persistent little wench...giggle)

Poem Artwork

Hi Dad, it’s me…
It’s nearly Father’s Day again
And I was feeling sad,
So I thought I’d write you a note.

What’s heaven like, Dad?
Are you happy there?
I’ll bet the angels are glad
They get to hang out with you.

Can you touch the clouds, Dad?
Do you ever talk to the man in the moon?
Do the stars twinkle brightly at night
Even from way up there?

You always said I ask too many questions,
So I guess not much has changed, eh Dad?
But someday you and I will be together again
And then maybe I’ll have the answers too.

I still don’t understand why you had to go,
You never even got the chance to grow old!
And even after all these years
I miss you so much my heart aches.

Guess I should go now, but I hope you have
A Very Happy Father’s Day, Dad!
You were always there for me,
And you still are!

Love forever,
Anna

Never too early, or too late, to fondly remember those who were always there for us.

As you know, this will be my first fathers day without my dad. It's very difficult to wrap my mind around the reality of his absence, but I understand this is how it must be and that I know only what I should, for whatever reason or lack of.

Thank you, Anna, for sharing. -Bob

Your disarming candor is so beautiful, and leaves me in tears for both your father and my own!

Very nicely done Anna, I lost my own father too young as well. He never got to read the book I wrote and had published about him (Red Soil) but I like to think somewhere he was smiling when it came out.

This is riveting, Anna. I missed out on a lot in my life by having a mother who I was constantly in fear of and a hen-pecked father who stood by and did nothing. Sorry to bring a small gray cloud to this wonderful feeling you lived and loved your wonderful father

Oh Anna, this brought tears to my eyes as I read this dear and tenderly written tribute to your Father and I sure know what you mean and feel. I lost my Dad in 06 and I miss him all the time. It is one of the hardest things to ever face or go through when your parents are gone. This was truly such an amazing letter to your Dad that sure is smiling down on his sweet daughter, no doubt about it (Hugs) Laura

So sorry, my dear friend, that your beloved father had to pass on, at, I am assuming, a relatively young age. Though never breaking bread with you, though I consider those I know in passing as acquaintances and not friends and though you and I have never even shaken hands or hugged "hello", I have the sense that we would be friends and that the person you are, that the good person I sense in you comes largly from your father.
Your friend, Mark
