Day of Rest
What day is this? I cannot tell
Activity has captured me and
Spun me ‘round as was her will
‘til I was lost—‘til I was ill.
Urgency, god of the day
Wooed me with proud Activity
She preyed upon my secret need
To fill some void with Industry.
...
What day is this? I cannot tell
For time has used me up—and fled
Urgency has trampled ‘neath
Her carelesss feet that better seed—
Importance-- Still she calls to me,
“Come back and we will dance. We’ll sing,
We’ll while away a summer day. Urgency
Will never end—Importance is the better friend
Sister of Priority and wed to glad Prosperity!
Oh siren call of Urgency
Disguised as Productivity
Cease your clamor—shut your shell
What day is this? Oh, I can tell...
The day of rest – and rest I shall.

Thanks for the always uplifting words. When I read your poetry I always come away feeling more light-hearted and filled with hope. That is a true gift.

i know this poem very well
I really like this poem's poetic expression & this line:
"Oh siren call of Urgency
Disguised as Productivity
Cease your clamor—shut your shell
What day is this? Oh, I can tell...
The day of rest – and rest I shall."
aside from deadlines & quotas needing to be met....it will all be there tomarrow, even though tomarrow never comes
but it is still just a day away :)
