Many of us have stood at that gate. So, do not feel alone, as all who have stood share this part of life with you. The loss of a loving partner will leave us feeling empty, for a time. But, an empty vessel is one that can be filled again. I agree that there is no life when one clings to death. I believe that one must cling to memories even after the vessel is full once more.
After life there is.death.. But death is a celebration to be reborn.. Darkness may have filled each and every empty space.. A few more steps the llight shines, directly to a tired being for some new perspective.. Thank you, my heart wept with every line..
I have to assume that the gate is the portal to death that one cannot open to reach a loved one gone. Or, it could simply be the gate to a cemetery that is closed at some point after hours.
There is really no life in clinging to death. It is best to, as soon as possible, focus on the living again, and leave death behind.
The night and then waking up can feel like the loneliest and most painful of hurts. Yet this is the price of love, a price that some refuse to pay and therefore they never live.
Death can be crushing, but we all must get back into the fray and carry on. It's what we do. Once we get past the moment, there are better days ahead. Yours is a stark but honest account. Peace to you.
