Life can move so slow

Yet death comes too fast

And love arrives blow by blow

Knocking on the doors of your past

Then stares at you with a vacant eye

Emitting a hollow sound

That makes you cry

For all the dreams that slipped and passed you by

And for all those promises that lied

But never stayed around to say goodbye

Life is a journey

Not a destination

There is only a faint echo a sound of procrastination

Pounding on the corridors of your heart

Trapped behind quiet locked doors

 That wanders ceaselessly across time-worn floors

And never gave you the chance to start

Or run away or beg for more

Now, once again the sound will guide thee

And carry you so far away

When it murmurs softly “wait and see”

And pleads with you to stay

Even though you want to flee

And never offers you the key

To shut the ear of memory

And unlock the rust-hinged door

That will set you wholly free

To love again once more

And save you from the monotony

Of being trapped in empty corners
