'And no kind thoughts existed, no love for me or you.'

Poem Artwork

I woke up early that morning

Several years from now

After a hard nights dreaming

Of people trying to keep me down.

It was a dream like no other

One which meant nothing to me

Of a strange and distant land

Where no one ever understands.

It was a soap impression of someone’s evil mind

A place where only hatred and poisoned

strawberries grew

And no kind thoughts existed, no love for me or you.

This miserable world was ruled by the

dreadful Mr. Knight

Who was always keeping an eye on things

Just to make sure everything was skin tight.

He was always sitting by a window

Watching the lightning and the rain

And would often appreciate the sun

showing up a few days late.

Everybody usually had a smile to hide

Even the androids with their unexpressive eyes

Persecuted inhabitants kept swallowing their pride

While assembled under man-made trees, overlooked

by cloudy skies.

Suddenly there appeared on a mountain

From an island in the sun

A Goddess who could bring back the love

that was gone.

One day the sun began to shine in this cloud covered land

And there before me who did come but the ocean-child

from the Isle of Cran

When I looked into her eyes, the more I could feel the love inside.

A voice rang out which said beware

For this woman will try to spread love everywhere

So Mr. Knight proclaimed that all people must stay

inside for if they didn’t, they would be taken for a

very unpleasant ride.

Corporation police cars soon arrived at my door

Several armed men had come to settle a score

“Don’t you know you can’t change the Institution,

it means Revolution.”

The Goddess from Cran appeared from the sky

Her eyes filled with tears

Now it’s time to say goodbye

Now it’s time to say goodbye.

As the Corporation Policemen dragged me to their car

They told me there would not be any remission

And for an encore, they all turned to the crowd and said,

“We’d like to thank you one and all for our first audition.”

Very prophetic, and now, in 2009, probably much closer than many even realize if we keep going the way we are.

Can I ride in your time machine?
If you wrote this at age 12, your destiny was truly to be a writer.
Wasn't 1969 when everyone was high?? LOL

Superb, Lance; what more can I say?? Except they would have a problem putting a straitjacket on me (or my twin, Karla): we're both claustrophobic; do NOT tie our hands down!! LOL Well done!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

Karla's more claustrophobic than me--and it's all my fault! Ask her one time about it! LOL
