Josephina
Dark and utterly cold,
White frost framing my window panes,
I am a restless spirit tonight,
Wandering these dark halls,
Careful not to wake the others,
They need their sleep-
Yet the night calls,
And I am moved by bad dreams,
To leave my warm bed,
And sit silently staring at the night…
Suddenly a small sad face,
Appears in my window,
Lovely dark hair pasted damp
On a face filled with fear,
And such sadness…
I stare,
Spellbound,
Am I dreaming?
Is this real?
Suddenly I see a tear,
Fall from her lovely green eyes,
I watch it leave a trail,
On frosted cheeks…
She whispers my name,
And I realize,
It is Josephina;
Lost and weeping,
In my window…
Quickly I run to the door,
And call her,
She comes slowly,
And says:
“I had no where else to go…”
Ah, Josephina,
Sweet and beautiful,
So cold, so cold,
She is frozen stone…
I warm her,
Not asking,
Knowing in time,
She will tell me,
What she can…
For now,
I shall keep her safe and warm,
Give her cocoa and love,
Give her a home,
How can I refuse?
She has no where else to go.
