A Confusing Weekend

Friday the 13th
Valentine’s Day and
President’s Day
Follow in rapid chronological order
Do they portend a new dance
Did they come together by chance
Or are they some new kind of weird disorder?

Friday the 13th is a good bad luck day
Followed by Valentines on display
But those presidential boys come Monday morn
Leave me way too forlorn much like a big field of corn.

Now I’ve been a thinkin’
That Washington and Lincoln
Were not very amorous guys
Of course Martha and Mary
Might have views au contrary
About their men of
Considerable size.

But that evil day Friday
Leaves things very untidy
To launch the long awaited weekend
It kinda ruins my mood
Like a dose of bad food
From a Taco Bell now on the mend.

But when it comes time
To serenade with a rhyme
I can whip out a line mighty fast
Being careful to send it
And not to amend it
For an old flame from out of the past

It’s a strange weekend indeed
And one better locked up than freed
And then pulled apart or sold by Wal-Mart
Post haste (that’s with very much speed).
Yes, devils and lovers and presidents
Make a triad that means diddly squat
One wants control
And one wants your soul
And the other wants all that you’ve got.

..yes...when Murphy's Law prevails..."a strange weekend indeed"...taking
a leap of faith...seems the only way to survive...and celebrate the magic
of romantic joy...

Yes, makes you think....
My friend visited me on Friday 13th...we were talking about it and laughing but on the way home she had a car accident and ended up in an ambulance...she was OK...but very shocked...coincidence? Synchronicity? Hope she got a big bunch of Roses on Valentines Day....

So funny, "other" Ed, I wish I would have noticed this combination, it is probably why we are having blizzards in the norhteast & hurricane force winds all throughout where I live making it cold enough to freeze solid a witches tit...enjoyed this one immensely...-e-

Now, that was downright creative and insightful… Especially the last three lines.

On the other hand, that line about being forlorn in the corn was a bit corny, to say the least!

How in the hell did Friday the 13th escape me? It was nice not to have to deal with it though.

How do you keep up with that mind of yours? Fun write, but with the truths of the last three lines.

From a day of bad luck,
to winning a lover's heart.
Then we honor presidents,
by the sales, stores start.
And this here poem,
Is a true work of art.

All I can say, from my perspective of where I live, valentines day, blizzard and on a Saturday is trifecta enough. If I was a gynecologist, I would not be scheduling any vacation time in November.
