Interaction
(It’s not all it’s quacked up to be)

When kids interact it’s a parent’s delight
When men interact we’re in for a fight
When drugs interact the outcome’s unknown
When thugs interact better reach for the phone
(More likely than not someone's gonna get shot).

Peace love and tranquility don’t always prevail
When you call home for money but you’re sitting in jail
Or when your girlfriend’s period is long overdue
And her father’s long shotgun is pointing at you.

There’s always a time to “man up” they say
And a time to shut up when your brain’s lost its way
No need to get chummy or show that you’re brave
When your butt’s the one that you’re trying to save.

Live and let live is a pretty good rule
Be free as a bird but nobody’s fool
Don’t give advice when no one is asking
And don’t volunteer when duty is tasking.

The one who steps forward receives the first punch
Let some other flunky be somebody’s lunch
Valor often follows the one with discretion
Or when fighting definitely is out of the question.

And so…
When you’re tied to the rail and the train’s coming fast
And your life is a blur as the pages fly past
Don’t call out for help or cry out in vain
When your face is so lovely it could stop a freight train.

I’ll come to your rescue no matter the cost
It’s you and me kid life never is lost
There’s always hope for me and for you
Now who do you trust—me or that choo choo?

I learned a valuable lesson here. He who sticks his nose out first gets it flattened. I'll remember that and that if I'm ever threatened by being run over by a train I will make sure I have an ugly woman with me to stop that sucker in its tracks.

Guess you can bet your last bent dime,
damned train will be here dead on time.

I think that couplets are the best format, for humorous poetry, they seem to work well.

You took a shot at many traditional things with this one. Some funny, a few not so much.

When you can't tell,
good from bad,
and you don't know the difference,
between happy and sad.
When you can't tell,
who's a villain or hero.
Is it the beginning or the end,
when your at zero.
