Like the timeless sea that laps the shore
I stand in silence to ponder
Life and love and circumstance
In waves of hopes and dreams
Some that might have been and
Those that yet could be;
While far beyond the roar
Of tide and scattered mist
And Nature’s unforgiving rhythms
My thoughts still turn to you.
Do all these things portend intentions
Of life and form to be—
Do they clear my mind
Of false desires or prevent them
From telling me anything at all;
Must I push them aside like a tremor
That shudders its commands
And then is felt no more
Or must I seize this moment
And find my dream today?
Every singular day is living for today. However, to ignore, or suppress imagination (dreaming) is to stop growing and being the full potential one may not have even discovered yet.
Your poetic question is easy to answer. We can ponder all we want, but in the end we must live each day as it comes, not looking backward too much at life through the rose-colored lens of the past or dream of a future that is impossible for us. We will be surprised with what will come. Hopefully it will be something good before all the bad things that precede everyone's death.
A true conundrum. It seems to me the answers can only be found by going deep within yourself and finding them where your
