The uniqueness that is Paris lies as much in our expectations as in our perceptions.
Among our expectations are her enduring icons of permanency.
The Inferno
In stunned silence we watched
As our collective notions of lasting improbability
Fell against the raging fires of certainty.
History had stood its grounds for 850 years--
Now believers and nonbelievers
Christians and agnostics wept and prayed and
Swallowed lumps of eternity.
The monument that had stood for
All the world to see above the flames
Of sin and virtue hope and despair
Was engulfed and transformed into charred memories.
The city of lights was once again under siege—
The music paused and gave way to the
Laws of probability and of Nature.
But even in our sorrow
As waves of humanity stand their ground
And mournful chords of prayer begin to fill the air
We know the stories of the Phoenix
And of resurrection
And of grit and determination:
This too will pass and tomorrow
Will also have its say.
No matter the cost
No matter the sacrifice
The restoration of this eternal monument to faith
Hope and love
Will have the final word.

I didn't expect to be so shaken as I was looking at the flames eating the beauty.
Hope I can last long enough to see this beauty flex her wings again.
Wonderful poem.
I almost cried when I heard from the news, but I realize the famous rose glass windows, the altar, and the cross were left untouched by the fire. It was truly a miracle from God. The Cathedral shall be rebuilt!
A beautiful tribute to one of the icons of Paris. Sad that it was restoration that tends to cause these kinds of fires too often. But you caught the optimism in the poem with the $675 million estimated to repair the Cathedral nearly already promised with fundraising already begun.
Because we have an opportunity to choose our attitude and focus our intentions in the present moment, the world and our own personal lives are a reflection of our thoughts. It is our 360 degree review on how we think. Put simply, our job is to fully
Are you still angry at God for having lost a loved one due to sickness or unexpected circumstances? This book will give you a better understanding of death, God’s role in it, and what decision is before each of us that would allow us to see them agai

Hope I can last long enough to see this beauty flex her wings again.
