The Elements of Trust
in Life, Business, and Love

In Life…
Be honest with your audience and readers
Act with confidence without arrogance
Always be a good listener
Be polite without overflowing
Encouraging within limits
Laugh with sincerity
Show modesty to a fault
Act like a pushover in casual discussions
But strike like a rattler when they take the bait;
Smile when appropriate.

In Business...
There is something poetic in numbers
when both the price of oil falls and
your investment account rises.
It falls short of ecstasy but money has
its limitations. Profits will do
until a real money tsunami comes along.

In Love...
All’s fair in love and war, they say, but is it?
Sometimes being fair hurts too much
when you have real skin in the game.
Never say I love you when
there isn’t at least a blanket and pillow nearby.
It is never a sin to tell a lie
When the worst that can happen is
still really good.
Do not ask if it is OK--
Asking for forgiveness is always easier than
asking for permission.

I've always admired a man who ponders great ideas, valuing honor, integrity, honesty, and truth. Reminds me of John F. Kennedy's Profiles in Courage. Never stop contemplating great ideas!

…Trust is a word that is often used rather loosely…
Your words make the reader think…
Usefully thought provoking…

Trust or something that binds us together. Your three illustrations point that out clearly. Once trust is lost, the communion can no longer continue.

Great advice embedded within the frame of a poem. People take the advice: the question is, do they put it into practice. Only time will tell. A great posting.

Thoughts that challenge the seemingly passive attitudes in Life, Business, and Love. Much to ponder here, allowing the reader opportunity to investigate the absolutes so many ask us to comply with. Unfortunately, as you point out, many of the worn thoughts on our species' means of survival have become but dust motes on the shelf of time. Write on, Ed. Always a surprise from your pen.
