Until the Last Star Falls

If God is love then we must adjust our imaginations
And look both outward and inward
in new ways;
We’ll not find a face like ours
Nor one who walks on water
Not even a vision of complex
algorithms at play.
Our senses cannot help us
They seek out touch and smell
and sight, taste, and sounds
But Love transcends them all.

Love asks something different from us--
Have we walked gently enough to know
The wind is our friend
The sun is our loyal companion
The earth is our sustenance
And water gives us life
The weakest tree gives us strength
When our intuition lets us down?

Love encircles while it waits
Unburdens the loads we carry
And illuminates the skies;
It gives enough to meet our needs
And guides us as we grow.

Ask for comfort and Love will grant it
Or time enough to make amends
Offer something to the poor
And to those who travel hard
Love dwells where we least
expect it.

In our final days know that
we have lived well if we are tired
That we have given more than we claimed
That we have been true to ourselves
Then we can embrace the distant horizon
And thank the last star before it falls.

A lovely look at love. Love is essential for procreation of all species. While most live in a narrow niche where they see and love everything, we humans have left our initial little niche we came out of and are into loving everything new that sparkles before our eyes like you have shown in your poem.

A fully encompassing expression of what love is or course be. Great ending to the poem.
