Rain = revival = rebirth... ...just go out in a rainstorm and feel it.
Renaissance
The day looks promising Daybreak dawns dismal In the dimming light of the crimson sun Flashes of lightning flare Against the ebony backdrop of the rumbling sky Soon the rush of rain upon the roof Calls to me Outside The electrified air The roar of thunder The wind The torrential rain The intoxicating scent of ozone Lighten and cleanse my sullied soul Till it is white Empty The hurricane had her eye on me I can see where I must go Thousands of fingers massage My aching muscles My naked body slick Slips into the waiting womb All is still now I seek further solace with my thumb Sucking I wait for the moment of rebirth
Regis,
This poem has a powerful feeling of vulnerability. There have been many times in my life when I would have loved to start over. Letting Nature touch one's core is the next best thing. You suddenly feel cleaner and, yes, reborn...like new things are possible. The image at the end of this poem feels like a cry for help - the innocent waiting to be taken under the wing of someone who can make all the bad stuff go away. Superb write:) Love and Hugs,
Sheila

Excellent Regis.
I can feel the electricity within your poem.
I've missed out on a lot of your incredible poetry Regis. This one is exceptionally good and it touched something deep inside me. I've always loved rain and cannot resist being outdoors and soaking it all up. Strangely, I also have a fear of storms (thunder storms specifically) after a childhood incident when our house burnt down and we narrowly escaped with our lives. In spite of my fear I can look at a sky streaked with lightning while the thunder gunshots through my ears and appreciate the splendour of it all (reverence and fear?). I know that this is not what your message was about but it evoked the memory. Thanks again for sharing your amazing talent.

Very beautiful poem, Regis - you make the reader understqand how much you long for being a part of nature. I wish there were more people like you! Thanks for this treat. Franz
So riveting and powerful to the person.
We must ALL be reborn again in this
lifetime, whether through "Christ" or Paganism. I consider
the rain as a symbol of rebirth also, I guess you could say I am half "Christ-believing" and the rest pagan ritual believing. (4 corners of the earth) I attended a ritual this past Easter of celebrating the Mother Earth. It was interesting. (My first time to go to one)
ANyway, sorry for telling you all that. It was a super poem and I basically just wanted to tell you that I believe in rain as a symbol of rebirth also! I just went about it the long way. I seem to always do that. I apologize.
Love to you, Take care!

Theres that oral need you got with your thumb, Regis, but as long as it works for you...& keep that rain up your way, I just washed the car...Peace friend Regis, ED & Rufuz
It's electric! whether a real storm or a symbolic one. There is a time to re-charge, have re-birth, out with the old and in with the new. Some people are afraid of storms and others embrace them. Works for me. Thanks Regis for sharing this outstanding write.
Hugs,
Pier

Oh wow - equating the storm with the moment of death - awesome! Who but Regis could have thought of this? Well done!

Exciting description of re-entry into life. I wish that I could find the door to rebirth. I'd step over that transom with my head held high. Super write from your pen Regis.

Can really get into this one, Regis. Some outstanding lines here and polished with the element of "surprise"! Love "...the intoxicating scent of ozone Lighten and cleanse my sullied soul Till it is white" and "Sucking I wait for the moment of rebirth". I have to agree, that being exposed in a storm is very like losing yourself to find yourself again. Conversely, I sleep beneath a velux window in an apex roof and there is something very womb-like being warm and snug there when a gale is howling outside... like the cosiness of being under canvas whilst yet not feeling vulnerable. Rebirth of any sort is the most wonderful experience. TY for this stirring and poignant write. LOL Kate xx
art work had we wondering as I was looking close at it before I looked at the write, and I must say you match the two together well.
Got me to thinking here and I like writes that make me think,

Fantastic, Regis! It is such fun, such a pleasure when a poet's muse is so fully exposed, gentle or torrid, doesn't matter... this feels like something that surrounded you, climbed right inside you and brought forth your very best expressions.
I love the subtle metaphors like "the hurricane had her eye on me...", so creative, clever, even playful... it's a poem that honors the whole, yet each line could stand on its own. I found myself sitting up straighter in my chair, as if I could capture it even more entirely. Oh, yes, Regis... this is what the imagination is for. katy xox.
Honest in its solemnity of a wearied soul. Positive in its sense of hope and understanding that darkness does not last forever. Fascinating primal archetypes and images, Regis.
