I cannot tell when the dream ended and the nightmare began. Now, I am just waiting for the dawn.
Malaise
Since you’re not with me Unease has settled around me Like a suffocating fog I no longer find fragrant flowers The sky’s the same from dawn to dusk Emotionlessly pallid Promising soothing rain But remaining arid I often see dark-clad crows Perched on the limbs Of skeletal trees Like severe sentinels Peering accusingly at me Birds have ceased their singing I’ve not seen a rainbow For a timeless while I cannot tell spring from fall I don’t know the sun from the moon And sometimes The siren of self-annihilation beckons From her mystical misty magical shore And though I would never give in To her whimsical whims It makes me wonder Where such thoughts came from Like ebon bats Perhaps From the hole in my soul From which moans of despair Rise in the air Of unease Since I’m not with you
Your Express of this poem made me feel as if you were there for some of my emotionally trying times. I looked out my patio door one day & seen:
"I often see dark-clad crows
Perched on the limbs
Of skeletal trees
Like severe sentinels
Peering accusingly at me"
There were nearly 200 crows in my tree or more!! I felt the entirety of this poem.

You are an excellent poet.. I can feel the sadness and the pain.. and it does't go away...
Isn't poetry amazing? your words are able to evoke real emotions from your readers and we could not help but admit to our malaise hidden so well within our souls.. therapeutic... well done Regis!
Such an excellent mood piece, Regis, although I hardly want to call it that. Mood means many things. This yearning, bordering on despair, is certainly more of a malaise than a mood. The picture complements your words and feelings.
This makes me wish, somehow, you might find a piece of silver, of frippery, to offer to the crows and watch them play...
A very sad and burdenning statement! One can write this but to live it is almost damning. Powerfully put-together poetry! Remember, the black crows and bats have their 'lighter-colored' counterparts!
Very heavy. The poem expresses pain that has withdrwan into itself. The siren of self-annihilation is a key metaphor in this context. But is pain expressed without a certain distance not at times dangerous?

It is hard to imagine how one can compose words in such a magical way which shakes the heart so irressistably. May the hole in your soul be filled with the light of love and the unpleasant thoughts be replaced by peace and eternal joy. Regis I truly like the way you craft poems and give them the shape of a real person interacting with the reader. Thanks for this wonderful offering.

I have often walked through the harrowing trees. The world bland, like the words that refuse to roll off my tongue. My yearning is not physical --- I grasp at that place till no end.
But what sweet poetry evolves from this? Sometimes the most powerful emotions - are the darkest.
You command such presence in this poem.
"dark-clad crows
Perched on the limbs
Of skeletal trees
Like severe sentinels"
Such a powerful image.
Do not let this dark cloud envelope you. We can only become stronger through painful times. The sweetness you seek is just through the trees.

You know I can relate to this kind of pain and to heal with words is the only thing the poet can do, or we can die. I guess we chose to write huh Regis. Beautiful Poem, or should I say...beautiful tears I see falling down your face since the only way to wipe them away and turn them into beauty is to turn them into poetry.
This one is so sad. The effectively chosen words had reached our hearts and brought to life the emotions in your poem.
Wonderful job on this one!

Regis...this is as awesomely written as the last...very sad, yet a sense of releasing in the writing of it.
This is some of your best writing. truly wonderful...
Keep writing like this...there will be a time of joy and beauty and I pray you capture it as magnificently as this and the last one.
That is a powerful longing and a dismal heartbreak, Regis. What a wonderful poem this is! Your images are so vivid and the sense of futility so thick that I could smell the stagnant air of loss as I exhaled in a heavy sigh.
Take care,
Sherry
ebon bats-- I got to look that 1 up.. you used that word alot.. cutie:) I like your poetry style... think, I'll read another to get me through this rainy cloudy day- but, it's a cleaning in many ways :) For us all, Just look up-- it will touch your Soul, where you go, ONly God will know...... Think we must be made of the same fabric, Regis... what you describe here I can so relate to, but perhaps in an even more extreme way. My mood swings rollercoast almost hourly, depending on how I've received information that either settles or unsettles me, regarding those I care about. My whole life seems to be coloured from moment to moment by what my suprasensitive antennae are picking up in life. Think I must be a cloud, hanging heavy on my own horizon the minute my equilibrium is blown off-course... and one that dissolves into perfectly clear and infinite blue when the mood is right. I am so sorry for your pain, but I think much stems from our inner perspectives which can be ever-shifting; I am not seeking to undermine the relational issues here, but for me this poem speaks more of our personal pathological responses to them. I do hope your emotional weather systems stabilise again soon! A very well-articulated poem on the nature of ease and unease. TY, LOL Kate xx

Hey Regis this is so terrifyingly stark and bleak unlike you. I hope this is not the indicator of how you are feeling. The loss of a loved one is a tragedy no matter how it is written but you are still gifted in your ability to do justice to the written word. sorry for you loss friend,

The Black Hole of the Soul. We embrace you, dear heart. The love of your freinds will uphold you. We have all been in that place of desolation that threatens to suck the very light of life. A prayer is simply a thought of intention, and our thoughts are toward you. The dawn will come! Go with God, Regis...
Dearest Regis,
This is so darkly descriptive. I've been in this place and know well the feeling of desolation and loneliness. The sun will rise and rainbows will arc through your sky once again. Close your ears to the siren of 'self-annihilation' and listen only to the voice of love. The greatest love is that which flows from your own heart.
Peace to you precious soul

Regardless of where you may be found in love this beautiful masterpiece can be
