A rhyming acrostic; I do find those challenging. ☺

Poem Artwork

Understanding   (a rhyming acrostic)

Understanding is a rarity;
Not much of a reality.
Deeper thinking is required,
Empathy from soul inspired.
Regard for life and love for all;
So let us strive to heed the call.
That peace may be real at last,
And strife be a thing of the past.
No more to engage in war;
Dance for joy and let hearts soar.
It is time for all to seek,
Newer ways, let us be meek;
Gently turn the other cheek.

Bravo Again!!

So much in so little space!
(And you got it to rhyme also!)
"Dance for joy & let Hearts Soar"!
AMEN & with the innocence of children!

ALL a realization of Isa 2:4 & Job 22:21 & Mark 9:50...
Just to name a few!

Yes, Here's to understanding!
Bravo Indeed. - - - - - - - - MDK

A wise quest for understanding...being a peacemaker, I can identify with all it addresses. I love the heart of the matter in the last line--"Gently turn the other cheek."

...bringing the noble task of "Understanding" to life in real world of relationship-science-art-poetry and viewing it from every perspective...breaking the shell of perception...and walking a mile in the shoes of human healing...unity...depth of love...happiness...is the task of poet.
Thank you Regis, for sharing your verse.

I really like those sentiments. Understanding and gentleness is to be admired and hoped for. But when something catastrophic happens, particularly among families, I can see where anger will take over and violence will ensue, because revenge is the first thought in such circumstances.

Beautifully written indeed. One would wish that these sentiments were universally echoed (though the Biblical turning the other cheek has a different meaning within the cultural frame of reference where it comes from but that is not of the essence here). Amour et paix toujours
