When you cannot be with someone you so love...

Poem Artwork

Fading

At times
I feel
I am diminishing

Fading
Waning
Vanishing

Like a snow angel
In a too fervent sphere
A falling star
A setting sun
A ship disappearing
In the mist
A wilting rose
A rainbow
At the end of a storm
A dying ember
A song ending
A melting glacier
A waning memory
A loveless marriage

Fading from you
Fading from life

Fading
Waning
Vanishing

Hi Regis,

This is a really good one. We all seem to fade at different times in our lives. I feel my time is waning because it seems like it's always Friday, and thus it is again. True I'm disabled, so maybe it goes faster in that I don't go to work, except I work on my digital creations at home. I wonder in this poem if the vanishing of the snow angel means it melted away, so is that what you're trying to say in the phrase "In a too fervent sphere"? I'd say a "melting sphere" would be more understandable, but that may just be me. The rainbow also seems to be alive instead of fading, although it will fade as fast or even faster than the storm. So you can ignore my comment on that one.

Overall, great work. I enjoyed reading it.

Best,

Danae

WOW, This poem really held my attention. I think some of us share similar feelings at certain eventful times in our lives. One has to rise above the fading feelings and let the light come in, to find peace and unity with in one's self...M

We do seem to fade in and fade out. Love is like the moody ocean. It can't be tamed but it can be navigated.

A memory to tie in a ribbon and lock it away.
May you find the love that gives you peace
as a rainbow glistens in your heart.

Regis you have given verbal representation to the most trying emotional experience a human being can be subjected to. I have been living this poem for far too long. May love and peace be always with you mu=y dear friend. Jon Michael

A guy with your intelligence & looks,
Should be about to find a girl other than in books,
Get out and start to again look,
Get off that damn bike or better yet find a biking trail,
There you will likely find a great deal of female "tail"...-e-

Too much longing expressed. A real need to get beyond the funk and enjoy life the way it is and not the way one hoped. A life seeped in, "what could have been," is no life at all. I prefer the words from Stephen Stills… "If you can't be with the one you love… Love the one you're with."

The imagery in this poem is astounding. You get through to the reader and makes him/her feel your anguish.

Love ya!

One of those poems that show the other side. Though dark in tone, they are precious glimpses and necessary to complete the picture - the deep shadows that haunt the playful light of their author's soul. I understand a lot from these, and I know.

we all have this feeling at times, reg, faded love and fading from the world at large where we half-belong, spirit from body finally fades and flies away.

A THING THAT REALLY PUTS 'LOVE' TO THE TEST IS...DISTANCE. IT EITHER MAKES OR BRAKES THE RELATIONSHIP AND ONLY THE TWO INVOLVED CAN DECIDE THE OUTCOME. IF IT'S REAL LOVE, IT WILL STAND BUT IT TAKES THE COMMITMENT OF TWO AND FAITH IN 'ONE'. THANKS FOR THE SHARE. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRTIONS

Memories try to keep us alive in our thoughts of someone dear to us who suddenly dies but many years later that someone may still linger in our mind. But time has a way of fading what has gone and left us.

And one day, each of us will fade from this place and move on to another plane. We all are fading, waning and vanishing and it is simply the course of life. Make each day your best day and even if no one ever notices, you will leave the earth a better place for those who follow.
