Very unique, this story in Haiku, the form unfamiliar to me, and I love it. No better subject matter to form this chain Haiku, than reading, and writing, and singing, dancing, painting, hiking, talking….do more of these, ok? ~~ djl {I better go back and see if you already have — I’ve been in hibernation for months.}.
The librarians will never let you down, oh, studious one
They stack the shelves with the latest titles and turn
to see you at your big read in the chair by the window.
They'll stamp your book and give you a discreet look
that speaks volumes of the intimacy of readers
and borrowers of novels and adventures, and between the lines
you'll catch the silence like a dream catcher
In woods and forests yet unseen, your spirit
will wander with the wardens of folk tales and sagas,
over seas you will venture with the librarians, oh, God
you'll have a kingdom of books by the end of your search
and will have a knowing innocence like Pocahontas.
I love this. I could smell the books, their worn binding and experience again the feeling of first showing up at the library, eager to lose myself amongst old friends, books! Very, very good. Thank you!
I REMEMBER THAT AS A CHILD...I LOVED READING. I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED, I GUESS I GREW UP AND MY LIFE WAS BETTER THAN ANY NOVEL I COULD EVER READ(SMILE!). NOW I MOSTLY READ THE BIBLE OR OTHER SHORT BOOKS AND INSPIRATIONAL PAMPHLETS. I THINK IT'S NOT THE LENGTH OF THE BOOK BUT THE CONTENTS/MESSAGE. magical places for me, and to work
In one was my dream…it was my first job, and I
loved it…! There is something about libraries…
the smell of the books, and the adventures
that lay dormant within the covers until we choose
to open them and the story springs to life…

Quite enchanting. You made me recall those Sunday afternoons in college when all of my homework was done and I could find no one willing to do anything with me. Like they had all disappeared from active life after Friday night and Saturday night out drinking.
If only I had taken to a good book, I'd be a much better writer today. But in those days I was just reading textbooks that were actually quite boring when it comes to good literature. I just never was a reader of books and I still have lots of books from authors here that I haven't read. Probably never will. A habit I never acquired as well as my twin brother.
Libraries have always been my time warp and travel agency. I could go anywhere and any when, and be anyone I wanted to be. They are genuine and precious treasures for us all and must be protected and preserved for those who come after us.
This is a book of free verse poetry that addresses the seven main tests in life and offers some sensible solutions to passing those tests with minimal discomfort.
