Silent Spring

This season has come

a spring of discomfiture

since you had to go

the air is chilly

the trees appear reluctant

to open their buds

their bare branches reach

starkly dark against the sky

skeletal statues

the sun seldom shines

the sky seems always sombre

the woods are silent

there are no bird songs

the flowers refuse to bloom

time seems to have stopped

amid this silence

and aching absence of you

my soul seeks solace

I do not believe

that nature meant this to be

serendipity

your memory stirs

a feeling of déjà vu

replete with remorse

my soul is restless

filled with a sense of unease

and uncertainty

Still

when I look within

I am relieved to perceive

that your light still shines

Moving and beautifully stated. The light of those we miss always shines, however distant. The pain of missing one who meant everything pervades all existence...

I love how your poem, so moody and sad, ends with a bright ray of hope. Wonderfully written!

I recall springs like that. The depressed mind can make the beauty of spring disappear and the chill dampness in the air take over deep within one's thoughts.

I hope that the intense blooming that will come after the rains will bring you out of this depressed mood.

This prose is relatable in so many ways to so many of us Regis. I often feel that the weather exhoes our emotions instead of the other way around. Well done my friend,
