SHE DIED YEARS AGO AND SHE WASN'T MY CAT BUT BELONGED TO MY DAUGHTER BUT SHE WAS TRULY A MEMBER OF THE FAMILY. EVERYONE KNEW CANDI AND THAT SHE 'BELONGED'. SHE BROUGHT HER OWN SPECIAL KIND OF LOVE. MY GRANDDAUGHTER WHO IS NOW GROWN AND WHO NAMED HER WHEN SHE ARRIVED AS A KITTEN...HAS OWNED MANY SINCE BUT, NONE HAVE EVER TAKEN HER PLACE. MY SON IS A BIG FAN OF CATS...IN FACT HE LOVES DOGS JUST AS MUCH. HE IS A ANIMAL LOVER AND WHEN HE MOVED FROM A ROOMING HOUSE WHERE HE AND HIS LANDLADY'S CAT FELL IN LOVE...THE CAT RAN AWAY SOON AFTER. WE THINK HE WAS LOOKING FOR MY SON. THANKS FOR SHARING, REGIS. Cats in haiku😊 I am a great admirer of cats and all creatures feline, as is well known, and as long as my lifestyle allowed it, I kept cats in my domestic environment, wild cats in each case, who would come and go as they pleased during the day and return home to sleep and to get their food. This way they were ideal companions, forming a loose but meaningful attachment enriched by a sense of independence which kept mutual curiosity alive ^~^. But I shiver to think what would have happened if they had been left on their own in the house...🙃

I think they are beautiful creatures, and they deserve our respect
and our love.

Haha…I caught you, though…..Every single stanza is the 5, 7 5, except “Abyssinian or Manx” — that’s only 6 . . . happy to point that out because who else in the world would, right? Cats are curious, curiousity killed a few of them, above all, cats are cute unless you're a mouse or a bird, enjoyed your cat poem, regis!

It's so ironic that I, being more of a dog person, should find myself dogless and sharing my life with two Siamese, Angus (my problem child) and Harley (who seems convinced that we're married). Whoever said that all cats are standoffish and aloof have obviously never met mine. I couldn't ask for two more loving companions.

I'm sorry but I have an opposite belief. Cats have to roam and hunt to be happy. But I see too many cats that are fat cats, obese like their owners, who hold them close and keep them indoors so they will be available for cuddling when the owner cannot find love of another human being or children to cuddle.

Cats were never meant to be held captive or on a leash. The same is true of dogs. When we keep them captive for our own purposes, we are abusing them.
