A Poet’s Reasons for Rhyme
My 5-Star review in entirety, posted at Amazon, for this insightful book written by Cindy J. Smith:
Having read most of Cindy J. Smith’s poetry books which I cherish for their resonating rhymes that transcend time, my curiosity got the better of me to find out “why” she chooses this medium to express her thoughts.
Indeed, the author cites her reasons for rhyme, along with her own rhyme and reason for not pursuing her talent to gift readers with more of her heartfelt short stories.
So as not to spoil the potential reader’s experience with this book, the only “reason” I’ll mention she writes poetry is the one which allows us a glimpse into her soul and seeps into her poetry: “I write so others know they are not alone.”
I highly recommend this insightful book which resonates with the candor and sincerity you’ll find in her poetry books.

Since you didn't spill the beans on what Cindy wrote, I'm not sure, without reading the book myself, whether she expanded on the idea of lyrical poetry over literary poetry. Like songs that resonate with people, often with very simple and repetitive lyrics, rhyming poetry is often long remembered and cherished over more complex literary forms. Probably why rapping is so popular today… Generally, it rhymes.
