‘Elm Brook Manor,’ Book 1 of author Iwan Ross’s McTavish Chronicles, is a Gothic delight for the senses. Best-selling author, Coby McTavish, a retired Chief Inspector with a penchant for communicating with spirits, acquires Elm Brook Manor as a respite from his crumbling marriage.
Like the aged whiskey Coby indulges, I savored the richness of the author’s vivid details which beautifully unravel the mystery surrounding Elm Brook Manor.
The ethereal presence of Vivienne Le Claire, Jane Baines, and Josephine Baker bathe the story in mischief, warmth, and delight as they propel Coby McTavish to unearth their connection to a manor shrouded in sinister secrets. Gracie Drummond and her son,Ewan, add an enigmatic layer to the mystery.
I highly recommend ‘Elm Brook Manor’ for its opulence, redolent of classic Gothic literature which has endured like aged whiskey.
