Author Sharon Mierke’s ‘Calamity by the Carwash’ (Book 2 in the series, A Mabel Wickles Mystery) delivers an entertaining, puzzling murder mystery blending small-town charm and alarm. Mable Wickles proves once more that senior citizens make great sleuths—with a little help from Sammy, one of her cats. When necessary, her homemade muffins provide a decoy for visiting a neighbor.
Despite her cry-at-the-drop-of-a hat gal pal, Flori Flanders, telling Mabel to keep out of things, she pries on the sly, throwing caution to the wind.
Bernie Bernstein’s murder appears to be the tip of the iceberg in Parson’s Cove where the list of suspects along with those you’d least suspect, are involved in some kind of racket. Even Parson’s Cove Restful Retirement Retreat doesn’t get a pass.
Humor, witty dialogue, and quirky characters propel a mystery that blows the lid off Parson’s Cove. A Cozy Mystery worth snuggling with.
