Horror, paranormal mystery, coming-of-age, and teen angst regarding homosexuality, all play an integral part in A. Drew’s masterpiece, ‘The Awakening’.

A near-death experience sparks Phil’s sixth sense, enabling him to spiritually connect to the entity in his house. What transpires for Phil to get to the bottom of Nancy’s gruesome murder becomes a nail-biting read from one page to the next.

This is achieved through fast-paced plotting, macabre details pertinent to the atrocity, and the escalating tension between Phil and his parents as he psychically relives Spirit Girl’s demise from the beginning to its bitter end.

I highly recommend this well-written, absorbing story with a shocking conclusion.
