Magical Realism: Fanciful Flights of Self-Discovery
My 5-Star review in entirety published at Amazon for Book 2 in R.M. Gauthier's Magical Realism series:
For this reader, the story is as much about Aaron, a magician, as it is about Nevaeh and Fallen. However, their dilemma propels Aaron along his continuous journey of magical self-awareness. In order to achieve this, he treads the realms of earth and beyond, tested, seemingly above his self-imposed barriers.
Initially, I was just as bewildered as Aaron sitting in Dr. Swanson’s office, trying to figure out if he’s dreaming and in need of psychiatric help. It is up to Aaron to figure this out, and come into his own.
Hence, throughout this Magical Realism, all does not appear as it seems from beginning to end, a testament to the author in pulling off this fanciful flight.
Whether you consider the characters you meet along the way angels or demons, they are down-to-earth as evidenced by their aspirations and emotions brought out through actions and convincing dialogue. One of my favorite characters is the sorcerer, Chappie, who has a profound influence on Aaron.
The words conveyed through the camera angles of the author’s mind convey a clever and imaginative story well-worth the flight.
