Murder Thriller, ‘Club Cargo,’ is a royal flush. The author’s plain-spoken and straight-forward storytelling calls a spade a spade in delivering a slice of life in Boston during the Sixties. Friction between the Italian and Irish Mob factions plays a heavy hand in propelling this page-turner. And, cleverly so! Who would have thought geese could stir up enough squawk to cause mayhem and murder?

The characters and their backgrounds add dimension to the novel’s riveting plot.

For this reader, all bets were on Wilus Shinronski, aka Willie Shine, the protagonist who made his entry into the wheeling and dealing of hardcore Boston at the age of five from his ability to master a deck of cards. Intent on maintaining his independence and preserving his own identity, he scrapes together what he can to establish Club Cargo, a gamble at best. As the story progressed, I admired Willie more and more, and think you will too.

Taken by surprise, I sure didn’t foresee Willie’s ingenious schemes to solve the problem which embroiled his club. Have to admit, I found them perversely amusing and chuckled out loud.

Highly recommended for its authenticity and brass.
