Author, Jeffrey Martin Botzenhart’s well-written and descriptive story brilliantly sets the stage for his gripping, backstabbing, Hollywood saga where female stars are pawed and pawned by its lecherous studio heads.
Protagonist, Daphne Marlow, a.k.a. White Heat, is no exception when it comes to paying the price for stardom. Adding to her disdain of Hollywood’s double standards, friends and rivals meeting tragic deaths cause her to fear she could be next. This reader couldn’t turn the pages fast enough in a story beset with startling discoveries, hushed scandals, tabloid fodder, an obsessed stalker, and high-fidelity phoniness.
Oftentimes, Hollywood’s greatest stories ever told are those which take place off the set. I highly recommend ‘White Heat,’ a noir romantic suspense which captures the decadence of Old Hollywood.
