Jinn Medlin has finally ended a twelve-year, going-nowhere affair with her married boss. Seeking to get away from it all, she drives south to the mountains. Inclement weather, and in dire need of gas, she stops at a scenic overlook to figure things out. That’s when a handsome stranger materializing out of nowhere in a pickup truck—a country-boy knight in shining armor resembling a dreamy figment of her imagination. She follows him to the small town of Moonbeam Hill where the kindness of other strangers have her best interests at heart.

A comforting short story at its finest, this reader enjoyed living vicariously through Jinn as she luxuriates in one of Aunt Ida’s cozy, “mysteriously” accommodating cabins. From thereon in, Jinn has several more encounters with Rafe Johnson, the romantic figment of her imagination who helps her heal.
