Like John, the fictitious editor looking for a jewel of a manuscript to publish in Stan I.S. Law’s short story, “The Jewel,” this entire collection certainly qualifies as one.

A byproduct fabricated with love, each story in this multifaceted collection sparks with brilliance, transporting the reader beyond the confines of time or space; beyond existence in our tangible, physical world.

While many of these sparkling jewels have made a lasting impression, my favorite story is “Lovers” for its short-lived, yet never-ending romance.

If the joy of reading entails creating an invisible barrier between oneself and the world, this collection elevates the experience to a fine art.
