Author Terry Kerr’s ‘Anything or Nothing’ is a riveting short read with depth of character and deep insight. In the beginning of the story, protagonist, Michael Richards, wishes himself dead because he cannot condone his attraction to Tony in conjunction with the Catholic Church’s condemnation of homosexuality.
Then, he meets his future self in a café where meaningful conversation flows. Most importantly, the here-and-now, twenty-two-year old Michael Richards comes to the realization he is the most bigoted of all for having denied his true nature by pulling the blinds down on his soul and stopped living.
Terry Kerr is a tour de writing force in conveying inner conflict with candor through the medium of a concise story with scope and sensitivity. Highly recommended!

Coincidentally, last night I watched a movie, The Man with the Answers. The story followed any Olympic level diver living with his grandmother in Greece. When his grandmother died, he went looking for his mother in either northern Italy or Switzerland. Along the way, the man with the answers, a thieving vagrant, spotted him for what he was, a homosexual, and they had a wild ride to his mother.
Sorry for the spoiler. But the emotions during the movie probably paralleled Terry's story.
