Author/poet Anna Casamento Arrigo’s environmentally educational and entertaining marine-life story, told in rhyme from Tessy’s point of view, is a charming and heartfelt read. The artistic illustrations by Jryona are vivid.
Tessy, the Green Sea Turtle, fills the reader in on the low nesting survival rate, contributing factors that have endangered her species, and simple but effective ways people of all ages can help turtles make a comeback.
I highly recommend Tessy’s engaging story which barnacles the reader from shore to sea.

When I was a child, there were few books in the library that were for children. But I recall reading all of the Dr. Seuss books in the local library and 2nd grade. One was like Arigo's and it stuck with me. It featured a boy that made a product from a tree that was so successful that he eventually cut down out of the trees and destroyed his business. The same as the Easter Island story.
Today, there are many books available for children. But I especially like books like Arigo's because they not only have great stories and illustrations, but teach a lesson as well.
I just saw a TV story about a very remote island that is one of the greatest sources of annual hatching of green turtles. Unfortunately, the sand is getting too hot for any males to be hatched. Only one in 100 of the hatchlings are male. Another problem is that the island will be completely underwater before the end of the century and this great hatchery will be gone.
