Author Martha Perez’ dark supernatural romance is forged by a deal with the devil. A book containing ancestral lore provides Darkfire’s background and how he came to bond with Angelica.

Blurring the lines between good and evil, Angelica agrees with the King of Hell’s enticement to turn Darkfire, a hellhound, into a man, enabling both humans to enjoy ten years of happiness before taking back what is his. Defying the devil’s other rules, Angelica faces the consequences when time is up.

The end of the story leaves the reader begging for a sequel where Angelica avenges the demonic King after he discovers another one of her secrets.

I highly recommend this short story which dances in the dark with fantasy, a sense of foreboding, supernatural romance, and tragedy.
