Author/poet Anna Casamento Arrigo’s collection of poetry and short stories is a kaleidoscopic reflection and refraction of vivid imagery evolving from autobiographical fancies. Her poems take flight on fancies of: childhood longings, candid memories of her mother and father, life’s quick passage, the disparity of wealth, societal dysfunction, and putting into words—survival after a stroke.
Each separate poem is memorable in its own right for the chord it strikes in the reader who is transported to Anna’s poetic realms:
“The Locket” – Clutching the locket around my neck/Love and those memories/A lifetime and…A second ago…Where are you now? Clutching the locket around my neck/This is you, mom!
Her short stories are treats which delve into the human condition: “Peach Cobbler,” “The Stranger,” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” which is a coming-to-terms.
I highly recommend this kaleidoscopic prism of poetry and prose taking flight on the wings of Anna’s fancy. Each offering is profoundly provocative and evocative.
