A Heartfelt Story with Unpredictable Elements
Once more, author Jack Kregas, hits his stride in ‘Joey & Slick,’ another one of his top-notch crime fiction novels. Backstories about his key players: Joey, Slick, the Morettis—Renzo, Matteo, Stefano, and Sandra, as well as Native American tribesmen, Coyote and Johnny, add depth to the story without detracting from its unpredictable plot turns.
Brotherhood with bloodless ties and lifelong friendships impart heartfelt warmth throughout the story. Yet, make no mistake in thinking the author has gone soft on delivering slick justice to those who have it coming. No siree! To put it mildly, his methods of restitution are creative.
I highly recommend ‘Joey & Slick’ for its variety of admirable and despicable characters on opposing sides of what constitutes decency.
