Jaw-dropping!
Author Sharon Mierke’s mystery, ‘Case Closed. Not’ is a jaw-dropping mystery. Not so much from high-stakes action, but from convoluted fragments private investigator, Beryl Swallow, pieces together from her deceased mother’s diary, along with faded photographs harking from the turn of the twentieth century.
Apparently, her mother and father’s lives were shrouded in secrecy due to the elements of danger involved.
Oh, what a tangled web Rosa Emma Anderson (Swallows) aka Enricheta Rose Nicolai wove, including possession of a missing weapon.
Beryl’s unraveling of her Italian and Irish ancestry is mind-boggling.
Also of interest, Beryl’s neighbor Sam and the development with his new wife, Sandra. If only Beryl reciprocated the romantic interest he’s always harbored for her, he’d have been spared humiliation.
The author’s easygoing first-person narration and witty dialogue frost the case. A highly recommended read!
