Author Sharon Mierke’s Cozy Mystery, ‘Deception by Design,’ exudes small-town charm. Parsons Cove’s quirky characters grew on me. For starters, Mabel Wickles. Flori Flanders, Sheriff Reg Smee, and the endearing Charlie Thompson add local color as the mystery surrounding Beulah Henry’s death unfolds.

The author’s flair for writing dialogue infused with Mabel’s introspective thoughts contributes to the story’s leisurely pace which allows the reader to fully experience the elements of intrigue, danger, shock, and surprise.

Mabel’s homemade strawberry muffins, her seven cats, and her lifelong friendship with Flori contribute to the coziness of this small-town charmer sure to delight fans of lighthearted crime fiction.
